Hi, folks!
So, I have been feeling realy guilty for being so late in giving my proposed books. Very, very sorry. Given that our next meeting is rapidly approaching, can we start voting on the books that have been suggested? I'll set up a poll of some sort.
The following are my suggestions:
1. The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison - I am suggesting this one in case people would like to pick a short book - 224 pages - for our next meeting, given that we have left the selection so late. It is a very beautiful - in a sad, poignant way - story. A modern classic. I think someone suggested it previously and I am sorry to say that I vetoed the idea because I have read it before, but now I have changed my mind and offer my apologies. It was a very good suggestion. I now see the error of my ways.
2. A Paris Wife by Paula McClain - This is a recent bestseller (335 pages) and the book that led me to A Moveable Feast. It imagines the story of Hadley, Hemingway's wife, during their time in Paris. We seemed to enjoy A Moveable Feast so much, I thought maybe this would be a fun way to continue the journey.
I feel as though A Moveable Feast was my third suggestion, which already has been chosen, and I do not want to steal Anne's nomination, if she wants to make this one of hers - you can consider this seconding hers, then! - but if I could make a third suggestion and am not stealing Anne's idea, then I would support "Just Kids" (304 pages), which is Patti Smith's memoir of her crazy life in the 1970s making music and art with Robert Mapplethorpe. Sounds awesome.
So excited to read!!!
